|
The purpose of this study is to examine current trends of intervention studies in visual supports for autism spectrum disorders and to analyze the study rigor through the CEC(2014) quality indicator to suggest future directions. For the purpose, journal articles were systematically searched via research databases and a total of 37 articles using single subject research designs were chosen based on the criteria of selection for the study. The selected studies were analyzed in terms of publication year and setting and trend of visual supports intervention, and CEC(2014) quality indicators. The findings were discussed based on the current trends related to both research methodology and intervention used, as well as the study rigor through the CEC(2014) quality indicator. Finally, suggestions and implications for educational and research practices were discussed for the future directions.
